The days when a short, simple password offered any real protection are long gone. Modern computers—especially those enhanced with AI-driven optimisation—can attempt billions of password guesses per second. That means brute‑force attacks, once slow and impractical, have become shockingly fast.
A password like “summer24” or “password123” can be cracked almost instantly. Even slightly more complex combinations such as “BlueSky7” may only take seconds. The reason is simple: today’s hardware is incredibly powerful, and AI models can predict likely password patterns, reducing the number of guesses needed.
Cybercriminals no longer rely on guesswork. They use AI to analyse common human behaviour, leaked password databases, and linguistic patterns to generate highly accurate password candidates. When combined with high‑speed processors and GPU clusters, breaking weak passwords becomes trivial.
The takeaway is clear: short, predictable passwords are no longer enough. Strong security now requires long, unique passphrases, multi‑factor authentication, and avoiding anything that resembles a common word or pattern.
